HMS ENDURANCE - Started life as the Norwegian research vessel MV Polar Circle. Iin 1991 she was chartered as HMS Polar Circle, and a year later was purchased outright before being rededicated HMS ENDURANCE

Ernest Henry Shackleton was born on the 15th February 1874 in Kilkea House, County Kildare in Ireland. After the Amundsen and Scott had reached the South Pole, Shackleton thought up and attempted to carry out another great plan - to cross the 2000 mile Antarctic continent in his ship ENDURANCE. This trip was a very successful failure…….
